Media Relations Campaign – A targeted stakeholder and community campaign working with local communities bordering a new garden city in Cardiff
Plasdŵr is a ‘garden city for the 21st century’ and is part of a strategic development to support Cardiff’s Council’s local development plan (LDP).
Local communities and stakeholders opposed the LDP and are in objection towards Plasdŵr, specifically as its development over the next 20+ years is likely to cause significant disruption for people living locally. Plasdŵr is also being developed on a greenfield site in a semi-rural location leaving local people concerned over a loss of green space and habitats for local wildlife.
To maintain an open channel of communication between the development team and local communities., we established the Plasdŵr Twitter feed and ‘Get in Touch’ email inbox to share regular updates.
We also arranged face-to-face meetings with stakeholders to build positive relationships and communicate key messaging. Regular drop-in sessions were held with members of the development team on-hand to answer questions and hear concerns.
We set up regular info e-bulletins to share more detailed updates on plans that may cause disruption for residents. As well as an established programme of regular blogs from members of the development team were created to address the key concerns – transport infrastructure, school provision and ecology.
